Another week and another batch of really awesome features. First and foremost I'd like to introduce the brand new navigation bar layout, complete with searching features! Now it's easier than ever to find your next collaborator for your project.
Also, with that in mind, we've added a rudimentary messaging system. Meant to be more of an in application mailroom than a real time chat, this slow paced messaging allows you to focus on your filmmaking and art, and introduce yourself to potential collaborators, to take your interactions into email, text or whatever you want if the match is right.
Lastly, I completely overhauled the reels and galleries to use adaptive transcoding for your works. Things should now appear in an appropriate resolution and not always be showing at the 'default' uploaded resolution! For content owners, you can now re-download something you've already uploaded.

Nice! Another batch of cool stuff to check out. I was able to cram a few new features together over the week of my visit to the awesome FilmQuest in Provo, Utah and here they are for you to enjoy.
Yea! It's a bit of a rough time out there for filmmakers and creators, but it's in our nature to defy the odds and make things! Keep on trucking, sharing your heart through your art, and reaching out for each other! Together we can make things that are beautify and terrifying!

Whoa! MORE? MORE FEATURES?
Yea that's right. What are they?
Yes, it's AI. No, it's not going to eat your soul. It's totally optional and opt-in and not gonna use your hard creative work to exploit you. Trying to make a human-first-ai-second platform! But if for some reason you do want an AI to give notes on your screenplay, you can now! Check out the opt-in checkbox on the new screenplay new or screenplay edit pages!
Now you can mark any of your assets in the system as 'password protected' and we'll make sure NOBODY can access that content unless you supply them with the appropriate password. Nifty huh!?
Does anyone read these? Email me at [email protected] and I'll send you 20 credits! That's enough to get AI driven notes on 4 screenplays!

Another version has been released! Huzzh! Thanks to all the hard work of our programming and marketing team to identify and resolve the needs of our users. Speaking of?
What?! Now you can get notes on your sweet scripts? Hell yea you can. Now when you are adding a new script or editing an exisiting one look for a little checkbox on the bottom to opt-in to getting notes on your screenplay. Send your screenplay around to folks and get their feedback on what's working and what needs more work. With line by line notes and overall notes, you can even add animated GIFs to your notes for folks shocked_kermit.gif!
Are you a makeup artist, set decorator, or someone who doesn't have reels, scores, or scripts, but you're still in the biz? Maybe you should make a gallery! It's a collection of photos that you can customize and use to feature your sweet work. Check out the one that I made of set photos from my short film I shot in January of this year for an idea of what you might be able to accomplish!
EEEEW! Yuck! No not those kinds of slugs! but rather the URL information that's shown on your assets! Now you can change it to be much more appealing and easy to share. No longer do you have to ramble off a bunch of numbers and letters to send people to see your sweet reel. But now you can set your identifiers as you see fit.
Consent! We love it! After some feedback from users about where and when and how we used AI, we clarified everything and made it all opt-in so now you will explicitly know what's being used and how and when and heck, we're even telling you what services we're using and how.
Further, I'd like to start running advertisements to feature YOU and YOUR creative works! (the ones that are public at least!) but first you gotta opt-in for something like that and let me know you're cool with it. Exciting stuff!

Hey y'all! I hope you're enjoying your time on CineSignal! Lately we've been hard at work improving the read along features as well as adding several quality of life improvements. If you've generated a read along on the V1 version of the read along, please send me an email ([email protected]) and I'll happily send you some credits to re-issue your read along on the new version, which should be much more sensible and extensible.
Next up I think I'm going to be working more on the community aspect of the system, messaging, commenting etc. Maybe adding in some mass emails/comms to keep ya'll in the loop about the awesome stuff that's going on here. I hope you find yourself a filmmaking community here and make stuff!
Yep, I'm using AI on some of the stuff here. Both in the creation of it and also to help you bring it to life. I'm a professional computer scientist with over 15 years of programming experience, so everything is getting super tightly quality checked all the time. Please rest at ease! I'm doing what I can to make sure we're using AI to enhance our creative abilities and not to replace the creator. Ethics are super important these days! Welcome to CineSignal v0.0.1, the first release of the collaborative and creative tool for filmmakers! Things around here are coming together pretty quickly, but I wanted to take a second to say hey! Introduce myself, and give you a sense of where things are heading!
I'm Matt - as many of you know - and I'm a computer programmer and filmmaker with 15 years of experience doing both. I've seen how most of my creative friends loathe keeping up an online presence and all the tools available to them - Squarespace, IMDb, actorsaccess - really leave a lot to be desired. Either they're total overkill, riddled with Ads, or woefully behind technologically.
And let's talk about the real scary thing on the horizon - AI. A lot of folks think it will remake the whole creative industry, and I believe that to some extent it will. I'm just hoping we're going to be using it as a tool to help us focus on the part that is most meaninful - the creativity - and to lower the bar to entry to making something worth people's time and attention. I've created several areas in which AI is used to enhance your creative pursuits - and hopefully never to exploit them.
So I made this! I hope you find it helps you in your creative pursuits.
You can setup an online presence for yourself here. Customize your slug so people can easily find you and see what you're all about. Obviously most folks want a headshot + resume type thing but typing in your information over and over is hell on earth. Here I've decided to use AI to upload your resume to be auto-parsed for you and turned into the fields we're looking for, but it's not stored and wont be.
As a writer myself I really wanted a place you could upload and feature your screenplays, that would look nice and polished and show them in a readable view no matter what screensize you were on. Currently you can upload your screenplay with logline, details, cover image and more and send that out to the world (or keep it private, just for your enjoyment)
I've also added a feature which I totally love, the ability to turn your written words into a fully spoken voice-play, complete with different AI voices for each part. I'm hoping that it will eventually address the most frustrating part of being a writer - getting folks to actually read what you've written.
For those of y'all who are into directing, editing, or acting, you can post up reels no problem and have them show off your talents and skills. Right now it's a little bare bones - a link to a video, some details, a thumbnail, but expect this to get much better very soon. Please be patient!
Yep! There's gonna be bugs basically always. Try and be patient as I work out the kinks and make this a tool we all think is rad.
I'm hearing more from my composer friends that they'd also like a place to host their audio reels, so that's coming soon, along with some quality of life and bug squashing efforts.
