JUST A BIG OL' NERD
About
Matt Moeller has aspired to be a writer, director, and funnyman since living in Orlando, Florida in 2004 which is basically the cretaceous period at this point. He’s written a book about improv comedy, hosted a live show where he got romantically dumped on stage 20 times in one night, made a ton of little fun videos for channel101 and YouTube, and now he’s full port into writing and directing horror shorts. This is the first you’ve heard of him and you’re unimpressed, but somewhat tickled at his self deprecation and meta humor. Wait, he’s standing right behind you right now, isn’t he?

Call 154 - Montage Rough Cut
This is my rough cut of the timejump montage in my short film, call 154. This shooting sequence ended up taking a pretty significant amount of time out of the whole shoot, but I really feel like it was worth it. With the steady and amazing hands of my Cinematographer Drew, we were able to line up shots and get a smooth pan with time jumps in the editing bay out of just his skills and the tripod we had on hand.
Red Hot Tea - Episode One Bumper

Daughter of Mine
“After his wife's death, a renowned psychologist (protagonist) secretly seeds his honors students with subliminal experiments to cure mental illness, but when his grief-fueled hubris unleashes phobias, a student’s investigation ignites betrayal, violence, and the collapse of his family and career.”
After the sudden death of his wife and the later suicide of his daughter, celebrated psychology professor Arthur Keller retreats into an obsession: a clandestine campus experiment of subliminal multimedia meant to cure mental illness — and to redeem his family. When a perceptive honors student, Dawne, uncovers Keller’s manipulations and confronts the ethics and danger of his methods, classroom paranoia erupts into real-world fear and violence, fracturing relationships and exposing how grief and ambition can warp even the most brilliant minds. Daughter of Mine is a tense psychological thriller set against a small university town, blending academic intrigue and gothic family tragedy into a moral study of responsibility, obsession, and the cost of playing god.

Locke and Lowde
“When reckless young undercover David Lowde blows his cover busting an ice cream–based drug ring, the department pairs him with retiring, by-the-book Joe Locke—now they must expose a corrupt commissioner and a cocaine‑loving crime boss racing to launch a nuclear ransom, or Miami goes up in sprinkles.”
Locke and Lowde is a gonzo, gleefully absurd buddy-cop action-comedy set in a sun‑soaked, stormy Miami where old-school detective Joe Locke — a tuxedoed, nearing-retirement straight‑arrow — is forced to partner with reckless, undercover maverick David Lowde. When an ice‑cream truck bust spirals into a murder, a city‑wide conspiracy ties crooked Commissioner Max Dickson to cocaine cartels, a cloned kung‑fu workforce, and a madcap plot to build a nuclear warhead in an underground ice‑cream factory. Equal parts slapstick, noir pastiche and romantic farce (featuring Joe’s lab genius ex, Clearly Lovely, and the sultry, duplicitous Anita Direction), the film barrels toward one explosive, heartfelt showdown about loyalty, listening — and how to disarm a bomb bra without detonating a city.

Get Zach Laid
“When awkward 18-year-old Zack is humiliated by his crush, his desperate future self time-travels back with one mission — get Zack laid — but fixing one night to save twenty years forces them to choose between betrayal and the surprising power of friendship, identity, and growing up.”
Get Zack Laid is a raunchy, heart-on-its-sleeve 1999 teen comedy about Zack Oakwood, an awkward comic-book-loving senior whose life is derailed after a humiliating rejection—until a disheveled version of himself from twenty years in the future materializes with one desperate mission: make sure Zack loses his virginity or become that miserable man. Set against neon arcades, strip-club misadventures, and a chaotic homecoming night, Zack’s nerdy crew—loudmouthed Dwayne, conspiracy-obsessed Oscar, and quietly fierce Jordan—mount an all-or-nothing rescue of friendship and dignity while the older Zack learns that fate might hinge on caring, not conquest. Equal parts gross-out gag and tender coming-of-age, the screenplay blends ’90s nostalgia with time-travel stakes to ask whether growing up means selling out or standing by the people who matter.

Dignity; Trust
“When earnest rookie life-insurance broker Chris falls for Sarah, a fiercely alive artist dying of a brain tumor, he must choose between the cold ethics of his job and risking everything — his career, his fiancée, and his heart — to buy her dignity and a chance at meaning before she’s gone.”
When earnest, bookish Chris takes a job at Dignity Trust—buying life insurance policies from the dying—he expects a moral gray area he can skirt. Instead he meets Sarah, a fierce, bald artist with a brain tumor who refuses pity and pulls Chris out of his cautious life with wild humor, carnival dates, and daredevil art heists. As Chris wrestles with work that profits off mortality, office pressure, and a messy ex, he must choose between corporate survival and a reckless, human love that forces him to finally live authentically. A bittersweet dramedy set in gritty urban neighborhoods and glossy galleries, Dignity Trust balances dark satire with tender romance and moral reckoning.

Inhabitant_V8
“After a heartbroken woman desperate to win back her ex steps through a midnight door into a crimson entity’s bargain, she feasts on enchanted sweets that consume her will and swap her life for a hollow, glamorous imitation. ”
When heartbroken Jamie follows a mysterious doorway from a grim city alley into a concrete otherworld, she bargains with a seductive crimson entity that promises to make the man who left her choose her again, for a price. Anchored by loyal friend Hannah and haunted by versions of herself, Jamie’s desperate longing becomes the engine of a body‑horror fable as the Red thing offers impossible comfort (and impossible cinnamon rolls) that slowly stitch her identity away. Tense, surreal, and darkly fantastical, Inhabitant_V8 is a psychological horror-drama about desire, possession, and what we’ll trade to be loved, and who we become when we finally get our wish.

noir
“When college student Leila Heilos discovers she’s a half‑vampire and uncovers a CIA conspiracy draining purebloods for power, she must embrace her smoky alter‑ego Noir to rescue her imprisoned grandmother and stop a blood‑lusting resurrection—or become the monster she’s hunting.”
When college student Leila Heilos’s life shatters into smoke and blood, she reawakens as Noir — a fierce, half-vampire vigilante haunted by a buried family secret and the ghost of her grandmother, Hathor. Torn between a craving for vengeance and the desperate hope for family, Leila must navigate a city where the CIA traffics in captive vampires, a charming but duplicitous agent named Alec Goffin plays both rescuer and betrayer, and loyal tech-geek Chad races to keep her one step ahead. Noir is a pulpy, action-driven supernatural noir that blends gritty rooftop chases, shadowy conspiracies, and ancient Egyptian myth into a dark, emotional struggle over what it means to fight monsters without becoming one.

Inhabitant_V6
“When, after a brutal breakup, Jamie chooses a mysterious crimson door over her friend's hand, a fame-hungry woman must accept a seductive inhabiter’s flawless beauty or lose herself — discovering that the real horror is the self-rejection that leaves her admired but emotionally hollow (horror, darkly tragic).”
After a messy breakup, Jamie bolts into a back-alley door at 11:11 and bargains for irresistible beauty with a seductive red presence—only to discover the bargain is less about temptation and more about the choice to abandon herself. In a haunted concrete room filled with echoes of her own past, the red figure offers a flawless, guiltless allure in exchange for the messy, loving imperfections tied to family and friends; Jamie chooses the safe, perfect longing and awakens at the cost of her inner life. Part psychological horror, part dark fable, Inhabitant tracks Jamie’s slow erasure—her dazzling exterior winning the world’s desire while the friend who once loved her finds an empty mirror where Jamie used to be.
